Dr. David Bell
University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School

Even in today’s interconnected, digital world, physical location still means everything and matters more than ever. David R. Bell, an authority on digital strategy and unified commerce, explains why.

A graduate of Stanford University and chaired marketing professor at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, David is an award-winning teacher and researcher. His studies focus on how we use the Internet and related technologies to search, shop and sell – a subject he delves deep into in his best-selling book – “Location is (Still) Everything” (New Harvest, July 2014), which was translated and published in Brazil (2016) and China (2017). His peer-reviewed academic articles are published in all major field journals and have been recognized with awards from The Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS), the American Marketing Association (AMA), and Marketing Science Institute (MSI).

David speaks frequently and internationally on business model innovation in the digital economy and was an early investor in several iconic new economy companies including Bonobos (acquired by Walmart), (acquired by Amazon), Harry’s, (acquired by Walmart), and Warby Parker, among many others. David is President of Idea Farm Ventures, a New York City-based venture studio, created to catalyze the next generation of outstanding consumer lifestyle brands.

A New Zealand citizen and US Permanent Resident, David received his Ph.D. from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.

Diane’s 25+ year career in trade show marketing spans both the exhibitor and supplier sides of this industry. Diane industry outreach includes several years as Board member and Past President of HCEA (Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association), as well as a prior member of EXHIBITOR magazine’s Editorial Advisory Board, and a current committee member for EDPA’s Exhibitor Advisory Committee. As one of the earliest CTSM’s in the industry, Diane was awarded her Diamond upgrade in 2012, and is currently one of only 16 Diamond-level CTSM’s in the world.

Diane has previously presented at EXHIBITORLIVE, HCEA, ECEF, TS2, IAEE, and the ExL Pharma’s Pharmaceutical Meeting Planners Summit; and is thrilled to be speaking at her first CEIR Predict.

Marie Browne
Group Vice President, LaunchPad
Reed Exhibitions, North America

As Group Vice President for Reed Exhibitions, Marie is responsible for leading the LaunchPad team.  Her focus is to drive growth for the business via the launch and management of new events.   Marie assumed this role in late 2016 which has resulted in the launch of eight events in 2018.

Marie has been at Reed for 18 years and has held a variety of event management and corporate development roles.   Her immediate past position was Vice President of Corporate Development where she handled multiple acquisitions in the US, Mexico and Brazil.

Prior to joining Reed Exhibitions, Marie held senior marketing positions at a number of event management and membership organizations. 

Marie holds a Masters of Business Administration degree with concentrations in marketing and finance from the University of Connecticut.

Dina Cappiello
Senior Vice President, Editorial Director & Co-Group Head of Storytelling & Media Strategies

Dina is the Editorial Director and Co-Group Head for Storytelling and Media Strategies for Edelman’s D.C. office, where she leads storytelling efforts for a wide range of clients and specializes in building integrated, multi-channel newsrooms.

Prior to joining Edelman in 2015, Dina spent 15 years as an energy and environmental journalist, most recently as the national energy and environment writer for The Associated Press, where her beat encompassed the Environmental Protection Agency, offshore oil and gas drilling, nuclear energy, coal and global warming policy. Dina contributed to AP’s coverage of the Gulf oil spill, international climate negotiations, and the Japan nuclear disaster and was in charge of covering the intersection between politics and the environment in Congress, in courts and national elections. 

Prior to joining AP, Dina spent nearly a decade covering energy and environmental issues at the Times Union in upstate New York, the Houston Chronicle in Texas, Congressional Quarterly and the online subscription-based trade publication ClimateWire. She has appeared on the PBS NewsHour, NPR’s Living on Earth, the Diane Rehm Show and C-SPAN’s Washington Journal, Newsmakers and Book TV programs.

Her work has been submitted for the Pulitzer Prize, and her examination of toxic air pollution in neighborhoods near refineries and chemical plants in Houston was a finalist for the Edward J. Meeman award in environmental reporting and won first-place for investigative reporting from the Society of Environmental Journalists. Dina’s work has also been recognized in numerous state and local journalism contests.

Dina earned master’s degrees in earth and environmental science and journalism from Columbia University. She holds a bachelor’s in biology from Georgetown. She resides in Silver Spring, Md., with her husband, a Pentagon correspondent, and her two children.

Dan Corcoran

Dan Corcoran is the Chief Operating Officer at Corcoran Expositions. At Corcoran, Dan is responsible for analyzing the performance of more than 35 exhibit sales campaigns that cover 10 of the 14 industry sectors in the CEIR Index. Dan has an MBA in Leadership and Change Management from DePaul University and a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois.

Stephen Cunningham
Data in Action Analytics (DinA)

Stephen is the CEO of Data in Action Analytics, (DinA) an IBM business partner which has been developing Live Event Analytics for the past several years. His passion is to help businesses to compete better with new technologies.

He has experience with both Wi-Fi service businesses and with multiple data-driven businesses. One Wi-Fi company he founded, Ucopia, currently serves more than 10,000 clients in Europe, and a database marketing company he founded, Target Media Networks, tripled ad sales revenues for the cable industry in one cycle more than 300% - from $30M to more than $90M – capitalizing on data the market had never seen before.

Nancy Drapeau, PRC
Senior Research Director

Nancy Drapeau, PRC. A 25-year market research veteran with over 18 years in the business-to-business exhibitions sector. As CEIR’s Senior Research Director, Ms. Drapeau conducts industry wide studies and reports on current trends in the exhibition industry. She holds a BA in Government from Georgetown University and a Master’s in Advanced European and International Studies from l’Institut Européen des Hautes Études Internationales. She is an AC Nielsen Burke Institute trained focus group moderator. She is a well-respected industry speaker and an active member of the Insights Association (formerly the Marketing Research Association) as well as a past participant of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) Future Trends Task Force and member of the Event Industry Council’s (EIC) Research Committee.

Kimberly Hardcastle-Geddes, CEM

With 15 years of event marketing experience, a Master of Science in Business Administration and an uncanny ability to switch from left-brain to right-brain thinking (and back again), Hardcastle blends focus and discipline with innovative thinking and creativity to craft unique solutions for agency clients. She’s a CEM faculty member, a Krakoff Leaders Institute alumna, the editor of mdg’s marketing newsletter, a presenter of industry seminars on strategic marketing planning and, most importantly, an integral collaborator for several prominent association and event clients across in the country. She’s also a mom, runner, reader, lover of east coast cities and west coast beaches and is known to eat lunch at her desk as early as 9:15 a.m.

She’s passionate about global brand and marketing strategies and has an unwavering focus on voice of the customer. As EVP of GES’ Global Marketing, Wendy manages strategy, branding, demand generation, corporate marketing, social and digital strategies.

Haluk Kulin

His deep strategic and operational experience helps companies improve the lives of people through marketing and digital technologies. At FreemanXP, Haluk works with our strategy, creative, digital and marketing teams to build trust and value through data.

Haluk’s experience includes more than a decade at Unilever, where he tapped his considerable knowledge of strategy, marketing and consumer insights to develop some of its most successful brands. In 2009, he launched Personal BlackBox, a for-profit social enterprise that pioneers new ways to deliver trust and responsibility for companies wishing to help their customers unlock the full potential and value of their data.

Haluk is a member of the Freeman Design Leadership Council, a team of 10 design-thinking leaders who bring a unique, transformative point of view to help Freeman and its customers battle complacency, risk-adversity, and time constraints to invent new ways of inspiring change.

Mary Larkin
Executive Vice President
Diversified Communications

As Executive Vice President, Larkin oversees Diversified Communication’s US operations, as well as the international portfolio of seafood tradeshows, conferences and online reporting, including Seafood Expo Global (Brussels) and Seafood Expo North America (Boston), the industry’s leading events globally. She also oversees events in Asia (Hong Kong) and Diversified’s Integrative Healthcare and Wine portfolio.

Larkin began her tradeshow and conference career in Europe before moving to the U.S. in 1995 to join Diversified, where she held roles in sales and as show director. She was appointed Group Vice President in 2004 and Executive Vice President in 2014.

Daniel Lippman

Daniel Lippman is a reporter for POLITICO and a co-author of POLITICO's Playbook, the most indispensable morning newsletter for the biggest influencers in politics.

Before joining POLITICO, he was a fellow covering environmental news for E&E Publishing and a reporter for The Wall Street Journal in New York. He has also interned for McClatchy Newspapers and Reuters. During a stint freelancing in 2013, he traveled to the Turkish-Syrian border to cover the impact of the Syrian civil war for The Huffington Post and

He graduated from The Hotchkiss School in 2008 and from The George Washington University in 2012. Daniel hails from the Berkshires in western Massachusetts and enjoys playing tennis, seeing movies and trying out new restaurants in his free time.

Tim McGuinness
Vice President of Global Trade Expositions
International Council of Shopping Centers

TIMOTHY MCGUINNESS, a 30 + year veteran of the tourism, meetings, and convention industry, joined the International Council of Shopping Centers in May 2008 in the Business Development area. His primary focus and role is to oversee the sales and operations of ICSC’s North American portfolio of exhibitions including ICSC’s meetings and tradeshow activities in emerging overseas markets in China, India, Europe, South America and the Middle East. Tim manages a portfolio of 14 events, including RECon which is one of the largest and most prestigious events in the United States.

Prior to joining ICSC, Tim spent 4 years NYC & Company, the convention and tourism bureau for the City of New York, as Executive Director. In that role he managed the Tourism, Convention Sales, Membership and Visitors Information Center departments. In addition, he worked closely with City and State officials on the proposed expansion and renovation of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Piers 92-94. Prior to joining NYC & Company, Mr. McGuinness served in key executive positions at Reed Exhibition Companies for 17 years, most recently as Vice President of Operations.  In this capacity, Mr. McGuinness handled the financial development and budget management for more than 35 national tradeshows and led a staff of 23.  He negotiated contracts with facilities, housing, vendors and airlines and established a number of long-term meeting venue agreements with significant discounts.

Mr. McGuinness has been a board member of several professional associations including the Big Apple Greeters, September 11th Families Association, Travel Industry of America, Major American Trade Show Organizers, International Association of Exhibit Managers, Chicago Advisory Task Force, Boston Convention Center Task Force and Exhibit Operations Society and NYC and Company. He was named as one of Top 100 Influential People in the TradeShow industry by TradeShow Week. He graduated from Assumption College in Worcester, MA with a BA in History.

Catherine Mills, CMP
Vice President, Conferences and Continuing Education
American Dental Association

Catherine H. Mills, CMP is Vice President, Conferences and Continuing Education at the American Dental Association. In her role, she provides strategic vision, leadership and oversight to the ADA’s division of conferences and continuing education. She directs the ADA’s continuing education offerings and oversees client services to state and local dental societies. She is also be responsible for the development and implementation of the ADA's annual meeting and oversees the ADA conference center, where dozens of organizations host meetings and events each year. Catherine joined the ADA in 2009 and served as director, annual meeting and committee on annual meetings and oversaw the production of the ADA’s annual meeting, which attracts between 20,000 and 35,000 attendees each year and includes more than 350 continuing education courses and 500 exhibiting companies.

Prior to joining the ADA, Catherine was the meeting services director at the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and an account executive for Associated Management Services, a for-profit management company of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Catherine is a past-president of the Greater Midwest Chapter of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) and also served on the 2018 Education Conference Content Committee for PCMA. She has also spoken and participated on panels at the PCMA Education Conference, ASAE Annual Meeting and IAEE Annual Meeting.

Joseph Mysak, Jr.
Editor for Bloomberg Brief: Municipal Market

Joe Mysak has been covering the municipal market since January of 1981, when he was hired at The Daily Bond Buyer. He served as copy editor, reporter, assistant managing editor, managing editor, editor, and editor and publisher. In 1994 he joined the Interest Rate Publishing Co. to put out the fortnightly Grant's Municipal Bond Observer. In 1999, he joined Bloomberg News. He is currently the editor of the daily Bloomberg Brief, ``Municipal Market.'' He is the author of, among other titles, the ``Handbook for Muni-Bond Issuers'' (1998) and ``The Encyclopedia of Municipal Bonds'' (2012). He has been an annual speaker at the Bond Attorneys Winter Workshop since 1994. 

Dr. Lindsey Piegza

Dr. Piegza specializes in research and analysis of economic trends and activity, world economies, financial markets and fiscal policies. Piegza joined Stifel in 2015 amid the merger with Sterne Agee where she was Chief Economist. Prior to her roles with Stifel and Sterne Agee, she was the Senior Economist for an investment bank for eight years in New York City.

In addition to more than 13 years of professional experience, Piegza has published academic papers in prestigious journals such as the Harvard Business Review and in textbooks from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management.


Vinnie Polito

With more than 20 years in senior leadership positions in the industry, Vincent is generally recognized as a content development and execution specialist. During his career, he’s had two international postings, launched events on five continents and developed highly specialized conferences in technology, life sciences and healthcare. Vinnie is also the past Chairman of the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE), the leading organization in the conference and trade show industry.

Jonathan Ray
Vice President, Digital for Aerospace, Energy and Healthcare Groups

Jonathan joined Access Intelligence in 2004 and currently oversees the digital strategy for the Aerospace, Energy, Engineering and Healthcare groups. Jonathan and his team work directly with brand leaders and customers, initiating best practices for enhancing user engagement to accelerate monetization across digital channels. In his previous role as Director of Analytics, Jonathan led the development of performance analytics of AI's audience assets, digital media and events. Jonathan received his BA in Journalism and Mass Communications from University of South Carolina.

Dr. Allen Shaw

Dr. Shaw is the Chief Economist of Global Economic Consulting Associates, Inc. He specializes in (1) analyzing the state of economy, policy issues, and risks in key developed & developing countries, (2) constructing statistical indicators for analyzing potential sizes of target markets and (3) performing customized projects. He advises clients on economic policy issues and financial risks in the US and key emerging markets.

Previously, he worked as the Chief International Economist at the WEFA Group (formerly Wharton Economic Forecasting Associates, Inc), which was originally established by the Nobel Laureate Lawrence Klein. He managed international forecasting, modeling, economic research, and consulting activities, including the activities of WEFA’s international economists based in Philadelphia, London, Paris, Frankfurt, and Rome. He was the principal designer of various econometric models used by the WEFA Group and its clients to produce forecasts and access risk scenarios. He served as principal investigator and econometrician for major economic research studies. He works with many firms in product line forecasting, development of customized macroeconomic scenarios, and strategic planning.

Dr. Shaw holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Connecticut. He was also an Adjunct Full Professor at Drexel University teaching graduate economic courses.

John Short

Mr. Short is in the IBM Sports and Entertainment Practice and has over 30 years of experience in the information technology services profession.  He is focused on developing solutions for clients in the Sports and Entertainment industry that involve creating an integrated IT platform for Fan Experience, Team Performance and Venue Optimization in stadiums, arenas, and multi-use venues. Mr. Short works with clients, sales teams, and business partners globally to create unique solutions for personalizing fan or guest engagement through pervasive network infrastructures that leverage analytics to deliver a relevant personalized experience. Areas of focus include ICT systems in the venue including Converged Networks, Analytics, Cabling, Passive Optical LANs, Wi-Fi, Distributed Antenna Systems, IPTV, Digital Signage and Access Control.

Danielle Shuff
Connect Partnership Group

Danielle Shuff is the Co-Founder of Connect Partnership Group, a sports and entertainment sales and consulting agency specializing in representing and selling sponsorships, naming rights and media. 
A seasoned marketing, sales and consulting executive with fifteen years of experience in sports and entertainment, Shuff held various sales roles within the Dallas Stars organization and Hicks Sports Group, previous owner of the Dallas Stars, Texas Rangers, Liverpool Football Club and a sales representation agency.

Shuff was then recruited to be the Vice President of Corporate Partnerships at Circuit of The Americas (COTA), a 1300 acre, $400 million, multi-use sports and entertainment facility in Austin, Texas that has hosted the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix, ESPN X Games, MotoGP, World Endurance Championships, festivals and 25 annual concerts at Austin360 Amphitheater.

In 2015, Shuff partnered with Ben Cahalane to launch Connect Partnership Group. Connect’s leadership team capitalizes on three decades of experience generating revenue and consulting for a diverse portfolio of sports and entertainment properties, including MLB, NHL, College Football, Formula 1, Formula E, Williams Martini Racing, MotoGP, ESPN X Games, IRONMAN, PGA TOUR, Live Nation and Topgolf.
