CEIR Foundation Raises $175,000 in Recent Fundraising Efforts

Dallas, 9 October 2014 – The Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) today announced a substantial increase in contributions due to recent fundraising efforts. What began as a personal email to a list of exhibition industry colleagues requesting financial support of the CEIR Foundation, quickly turned into a two-day challenge resulting in $175,000 in pledges. Each time a pledge was received, a challenge was issued for others to pledge support to the CEIR Foundation.

The catalyst for this challenge was a recent pledge by the Association of Equipment Manufacturers to give $100,000 to the Foundation over the next five years.

“I am thrilled to report this significant increase in donations from the exhibitions and events industry,” said CEIR President and CEO Brian Casey, CEM. “The research CEIR conducts has a profound effect on the exhibitions and events industry. Without the generous support of our donors, the CEIR Index and CEIR Census would not be possible.”

Total contributions in 2014 to the CEIR Foundation have exceeded $475,000. Individual contributors include Terence Donnelly, Shura Garnett, Lawson Hockman/Jacqueline Wolfe, Sue Hueg, Britton Jones, Brad Kent, Sue McCart, Serge Micheli, Andrew Ortale, Verne Packer, John Patronski, Don Pazour, Bob Priest-Heck and Dennis Slater. Company contributors include the Association of Equipment Manufacturers, BizBash, Business Journals Inc., BxB Online, Consumer Electronics Association, Convexx, Exhibit Surveys, Inc., Exposition Development Company, Inc., Fern Exposition & Event Services, Heart+Mind Strategies, Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority, Lippman Connects, Map Your Show, National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), National Association of Chain Drug Stores, National Shooting Sports Foundation, Shepard Exposition Services, Smart City Networks, The Vison Council, Visit Phoenix and Wyndham Jade.

Each year, the CEIR produces the CEIR Index, an important report that quantifies and monitors key performance indicators of trade shows over 10,000 NSF in 14 industry sectors. Metrics tracked include Total Net Exhibit Space sold, Total Exhibiting Companies, Total Professional Attendance and Total Revenue of the event. The CEIR Index is a predictive tool that helps the exhibitions and events industry gain perspective and help develop business strategies for the ensuing three years. Data collected is useful and supports:

  • Mergers and acquisitions strategies and processes
  • Show growth strategies
  • Perspective to exhibition organizers on how their exhibition is performing against the overall performance of sector in which their events fall
  • Provides destination marketing organizations and venues with data to support sales and business development
  • Provides all exhibitions and events industry suppliers with important data for their sales and marketing efforts

In addition to the CEIR Index, CEIR also produces the CEIR Census providing a count of both business-to-business and business-to-consumer exhibitions in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. This essential report provides insights and rankings on where events are held by state/province, and venue types (convention/exhibition facility, hotel, other venue).

The CEIR Index and CEIR Census, as well as all the other reports produced, provide industry-leading research with a focus on optimizing performance, increasing engagement and addressing emerging trends.
